The care and wellbeing of children has long been the focus for June in her life and career. After initially working in IT customer support, she took up a series of roles in childcare and education.
She counts herself very lucky to have worked with toddlers when her own children were small and as they got older moved on through the education sector to become a college invigilator and exams and data officer.
June opened her own nursery in Leicester and studied to become an NVQ assessor. When her daughters left home she volunteered for schools and charities.
She is currently a volunteer outreach support worker for the Samaritans, working with schools and universities, and is a college governor.
Books of all genres are a huge part of June’s life and she leads a library reading group. She loves to get creative and won’t turn down the chance to try a workshop on ceramics, mosaics, basket weaving, sewing, knitting or glass fusion.
She loves to get mindful with Tai Chi, yoga and on long walks with her much-loved Jack Russell.
