David is a marketing expert and comes from a family who believe in the power of charities to change things.
His great-grandfather launched two charities, one of them supplying shoes for poverty-stricken children. His father donated to Leicester Children’s Holidays and even ensured it was the nominated charity at his workplace.
David started running his first business when he was a student and went on to invest in Leicester’s Luxor nightclub. He later spent 15 years at IBM in a management role which took him across the UK, Europe and further afield. He has also been heavily involved in student employability and placements.
His part-time marketing lecturer role at De Montfort University became full time in 2016 and he was later made Associate Professor and leads the marketing team.
David says he has a passion to give back to society and describes it as an ‘emotional journey’ to teach and inspire his students. Part of the satisfaction of his role comes from watching them grow and develop and helping them find jobs.
He helps runs university projects which provide free resources for businesses to develop ideas and is keen to set up a collaborative relationship between the university and our charity. He comes to us with a myriad of commercial links developed over many years.
David is married, lives in Blaby and has three daughters aged 21, 14 and 12.
