62 assemblies

This month has been particularly busy as the team have headed out to deliver 62 school assemblies to those who will be taking part in the sparkle and shine colour dash in just 3 days! All the behind the scenes work has now been completed and 2.5 million grams of paint delivered.

Easter egg donations

A huge thank you to everyone at Bannatyne Leicester, both staff and members who donated 160 Easter eggs to our charity and to More Recruitment for their generous donation of 100 Easter eggs. All of these were delivered to Goldhill Adventure Playground for their annual Easter Egg Hunt for Leicester and Leicestershire children.

Lineham Farm

We had a fantastic time taking a class of 30 Knighton Mead Yr4’s to a beautiful Yorkshire farm! Some children had never been to the countryside before. It was great to see so many happy faces as they learnt all about nature and the outdoors. The children were able to take part in a range of activities: low ropes, orienteering, map reading, obstacle courses and caring for the animals.

Upcoming fishing trips

Invitations for nominations have gone out to schools for our upcoming fishing trip. We are really looking forward to taking children aged 10-14 away for an adventurous day with Peter Le Marchant Trust. 18 children will have fishing coaching, go on a canal boat and take part in indoor bouldering! This will be a great chance for children to learn new skills and provides them with a day away from home, doing activities they otherwise would never experience.

CEO Message

I know that my job is a privilege. I get to improve children's lives by providing opportunities they would otherwise miss out on...opportunities perhaps many of us take for granted. The weekend at Lineham Farm was just a joy. Taking a whole bunch of children away to a Yorkshire farm for the weekend was nothing short of a delight. Red kites circling above us, lambs by our feet. Getting city kids to the countryside exploring and being totally free has been wonderful. The work we do is so important and spending time with these amazing children makes me motivated to achieve more for them! Myself and the team are particularly looking forward to this coming Friday as we head to watch the colour dash unfold at one of the local schools. Children running, paint and glitter everywhere and most importantly everyone having fun! We can't wait to get involved.

What We Do And Why

The End Child Poverty coalitions new published figures show that there are over 30,000 children in Leicester living in poverty which is 6,000 more than there were in 2015. Leicester saw the biggest increase in child poverty in the East Midlands and one of the highest in the country overall. We are doing all we can to help those children affected by poverty. We cannot do it on our own. If you feel you could help please donate today.
